Monica Aguilar-Hicks and Mitra Sushinksy were both pickleball players at the Paseo Club. Their paths crossed one day in a pickleball match shortly after the pandemic. Aguilar-Hicks was astonished and scared by Sushinksy’s skills.
At a pickleball tournament at the Paseo Club in Valencia last week, Monica and her foundation partner, Mitra Suchinski, doubled their goal and raised over $12,000 for Be the Match through her organization, Dink for a Cause.
Pickleball grew in popularity during the pandemic, and a Santa Clarita woman said the power of the sport – and its players – lifted her spirits to help honor her late husband.
Monica Hicks and Mitra Sushinsky, co-founders of Dink for Cause, welcome all to the inaugural charity event at the Paseo Club in Valencia. According to Hicks, the tournament is almost sold out and approximately 140 Santa Clarita Valley residents will compete.
